Creating Your Vision Board: A Step by Step Guide
March 14, 2024Back when I was a kid, I wasn’t exactly what you’d call slim. Picture a mini Buddha—that was me, thanks to my love for food. My best buddy, Isidro, and I could have easily passed for a pair of sumo wrestlers in the making. And let me tell you, his mom cooked up the most amazing Thanksgiving dinners that are still unmatched to this day.
Childhood for me was all about the joys of playing Nintendo. Holding that controller was like a magic wand; it opened up worlds beyond the screen, sparking my curiosity about the magic happening behind it. This fascination wasn’t just for fun—I visualized winning a computer, and it happened. This planted the seed for my future in computer science. Even as a kid, I was dreaming of coding, and being part of creating those virtual adventures.
One of my clearest memories of visualization bringing dreams to life was during a Vietnamese New Year’s raffle. I had my heart set on winning a stuffed lion. In my mind, I’d already played out our entire friendship—spills, tosses, wrestling matches, you name it. So, when my ticket was called, it felt like destiny rather than surprise. I’d visualized it so vividly; it had to happen.
This knack for visualization wasn’t a random discovery. My mom introduced me to it, long before I stumbled upon Neville Goddard’s teachings on the law of assumption. Just like Neville imagined himself in Barbados, my mom dreamed of California, influenced by tales of palm trees, warm beaches, and family reunions from my aunt Julie. She didn’t just think about it; she felt it, lived it in her mind until it became our reality. We moved to California, a testament to the power of imagination in shaping our world.
I’ve since developed what I call the DREAMS Framework, a testament to the belief that visualization is key to achieving any goal. It’s not about the how-to’s; it’s about seeing the end result so clearly in your mind that it feels inevitable. When I decided to write a book, I didn’t bog myself down with the process. Instead, I focused on the moment I’d hold the finished product in my hands. Now, I apply this same technique to visualize walking again, traveling the globe, delivering inspirational speeches, eating good food, and dancing around the world.
I urge you to try this approach with your own aspirations. Start small, like imagining picking up a coin, to build your belief system. With practice, you’ll find yourself manifesting bigger and grander dreams. Visualization isn’t just a tool; it’s a bridge to turning your deepest desires into reality.
